Board of Assessors
The Assessors’ office is committed to maintaining an assessment system that develops fair and equitable values for all classes of property and is required by Massachusetts law to list and value all real and personal property within the town.

Board of Health
The Board is charged with the protection of the public health and to fulfill their duties by developing, implementing and enforcing health policies which are developed through Federal, State and local regulations.

Building Facilities Construction Committee
The Committee is used as a resource for various Town Construction Projects with a cost of $10,000 or greater and/or as requested by the Board of Selectmen.

Cable Committee
The Douglas Cable Advisory Committee is responsible for the Public Access and government channels broadcast through the Town's cable TV system, operated by Charter Communications.

Cemetery Commission
The Cemetery Commission is responsible for selling plots in the cemeteries, making sure that the cemeteries are properly taken care of and keeping records of all that pertains to the applicable cemeteries.

Conservation Commission
The Douglas Conservation Commission is the official agency specifically charged with the protection of the natural resources in the Town of Douglas.

Council on Aging
The Council on Aging works to respond to the needs of seniors in the Douglas community through developing, promoting and encouraging programs and services in a positive atmosphere.

Finance Committee
The duty of the Finance Committee is to inquire into the expenditures and commitments of each town department and it shall have access to all records of each town department, officer, board or committee and will discuss the budgetary requirements for the ensuing fiscal year of such departments, officers, boards and committees.

Housing Authority
The Housing Authority responsible for a broad range of issues, including, but not limited to ensuring the integrity and professionalism of the housing authority, setting policy and by-laws, advocating for low-income housing and the interests of the tenants. Open Space Committee
The Committee works on land preservation projects to preserve open space and important habitats throughout Town. Discover more about the Open Space Committee.

Personnel Board
The Personnel Board supports the non-contractual and non-elected positions within the municipal system, including the police dispatchers, fire, EMTs, highway, water, sewer, library, and Municipal Center employees.

Planning Board
The Planning Board oversees subdivisions, special permit granting, holding public hearings, zoning changes, and approving special permits for things like earth removal or accessory apartments. Learn more about the Planning Board.

Strategic Budget Committee
The Strategic Budget Committee is responsible for a five year sustainable budget that includes strategies for cost reductions, recommendations for the use of new growth revenue, plans to fully fund the capital plan, and recommendations for the use of one-time revenues.

Zoning Board of Appeals
The Zoning Board of Appeals hears appeals from decisions of any administrative official or board of the Town, grants variances from terms of the zoning bylaw and reviews permit applications.
