DEPOT STREET WATER MAIN PROJECT & TRAFFIC UPDATE – 12/01/2025
Work to rebuild a collapsed retaining wall located at 59 Depot Street will start on Monday, December 1st, and last approximately three weeks.
Jersey barriers will be positioned on the double yellow center line, where the southbound lane to Railroad Ave will be closed to all thru traffic, leaving the northbound lane to Main Street open to alternating one-way traffic.
Portable traffic lights will be positioned on each end of the Jersey barriers to control traffic.
Speed limit within the alternating one-way traffic zone will be 20 MPH.
Please use extreme caution and vigilance at all times when driving through all work zone areas.

DEPOT ST WATER MAIN PROJECT & TRAFFIC UPDATE – 9/16/2025
Water main work on Depot Street continues where there will be a half road closure with alternating one-way traffic pattern in the vicinity of 58-59 Depot Street on Wednesday (9/17) to install a catch basin concrete structure.
In addition, on Friday (9/19), paving crews will be paving only the one lane over the water main trench. Expect half road closure with alternating one-way traffic pattern in the vicinity of the paving operation.
Use extreme caution and vigilance at all times when driving through all work zone areas.

DEPOT STREET WATER MAIN PROJECT & TRAFFIC UPDATE – 8/25/2025
Water main work on Depot Street continues where road closures can be anticipated this coming week, as house connection work begins off the newly installed water main between Main Street and the Municipal Center. Please plan your drive to/from the Municipal Center accordingly.
DEPOT STREET WILL BE CLOSED BETWEEN MAIN & COTTAGE/PLEASANT ON MONDAY (8/25) AND TUESDAY (8/26) for house connection work. Use Pleasant (one-way), Cottage, or Martin to/from Municipal Center.
DEPOT STREET WILL BE CLOSED BETWEEN COTTAGE/PLEASANT & THE MUNICIPAL CENTER STARTING WEDNESDAY (8/27) with a second crew until such time house connection work is completed between Cottage/Pleasant and the Municipal Center (date unknown?). Use Railroad/Franklin route to/from Municipal Center.
Upon completion of all house connection work (including the Municipal Center connection) between Main Street and the Municipal Center, Depot Street will fully open from Main Street to the Municipal Center, while the Railroad/Franklin route will close.
Remaining water main work affecting future road closures includes:
- Removal of the temporary black bypass pipe.
- Driveway/sidewalk repair.
- Installation of the Semi-Permanent Trench Patch (3” mill & overlay of all trenches).
Above road closures are effective during working hours of 7:00 AM to approximately 5:00 PM, weather permitting.
Use extreme caution and vigilance at all times when driving through work areas.

DEPOT STREET WATER MAIN PROJECT & TRAFFIC UPDATE – 7/31/2025
DEPOT STREET WILL BE CLOSED ALL DAY IN FRONT OF THE MUNICIPAL CENTER this Friday, August 01st, for water pipe installation, from 7:00 AM to approximately 5:00 PM.
Local residents will be able to access their driveways by using either Main Street or Railroad Ave routes, dependent upon which side of the Municipal Center work zone area they are located. If stopped by a traffic detail officer, politely advise you reside within the work zone.
Use extreme caution and vigilance at all times when driving through all work zone areas.

DEPOT ST WATER MAIN PROJECT & TRAFFIC UPDATE – 7/30/2025
Water main work on Depot Street continues between the Municipal Center and Railroad Ave.
Road closures can be anticipated until approximately August 15th.
The location of the work zone changes daily as pipe installation progresses on Depot towards Railroad.
Local residents will be able to access their driveways, dependent upon which side of the work zone area they are located. If stopped by a traffic detail officer, politely advise you reside within the work zone.
Above road closures are effective during working hours of 7:00 AM to approximately 5:00 PM, Monday thru Friday.
Use extreme caution and vigilance at all times when driving through all work zone areas.

DEPOT ST WATER MAIN PROJECT & TRAFFIC UPDATE – 7/20/2025
Water main work on Depot Street continues where road closures can be anticipated this coming week, as work approaches the two entrances to the Municipal Center. Please plan your drive accordingly.
One hydrant install is scheduled at 18 Depot St (between Cottage/Pleasant and Orchard) on Monday (7/21). Pipe installation will continue on Depot Street, between Martin and the Municipal Center, thru Friday (7/25).
DEPOT STREET WILL BE CLOSED BETWEEN COTTAGE/PLEASANT AND ORCHARD ON MONDAY MORNING (7/21) for hydrant installation.
DEPOT STREET WILL BE CLOSED BETWEEN MARTIN AND THE MUNICIPAL CENTER STARTING MONDAY AFTERNOON (7/21) until such time the first entrance to the Municipal Center is crossed (date unknown?) – use Railroad/Franklin route.
After crossing the first entrance to the municipal center, DEPOT FROM MAIN WILL OPEN, WHILE THE RAILROAD/FRANKLIN ROUTE WILL CLOSE to thru traffic.
Local residents will be able to access their driveways, dependent upon which side of the work area they are located.
Above road closures are effective during working hours of 7:00 AM to approximately 5:00 PM.

Water main work on Depot Street continues where road closures can be anticipated this coming week. Please plan your drive accordingly.
Pipe installation/valve connection work is scheduled for the Cottage/Pleasant intersection on Monday (7/14). WATER WILL BE SHUTOFF DURING WORKING HOURS FOR COTTAGE STREET AND PLEASANT STREET AREAS ON MONDAY.
Pipe installation will continue on Depot Street, between Cottage/Pleasant and Martin, thru Thursday (7/17). DEPOT STREET WILL BE CLOSED BETWEEN COTTAGE/ PLEASANT AND MARTIN ON THURSDAY (7/10) THRU THURSDAY (7/17/) during working hours of 7:00 AM to approximately 5:00 PM.
All traffic from Depot Street (Cottage/Pleasant to Railroad) and Martin (Depot to Maple) will not have access to Main Street while Depot is closed (Cottage/Pleasant to Martin) during construction for pipe installation. Use Railroad & Franklin to/from Main Street.

DEPOT STREET WATER MAIN PROJECT TRAFFIC UPDATE – 7/02/2025
Water main work on Depot Street continues where road closures can be anticipated this coming week. Please plan your drive accordingly.
Pipe installation work is scheduled for the Cottage/Pleasant intersection on Thursday (7/03) and Monday (7/07). Pipe installation will continue up Depot Street on Tuesday (7/08). DEPOT STREET WILL BE CLOSED BETWEEN COTTAGE/PLEASANT AND MARTIN ON THURSDAY (7/03), MONDAY (7/07/) & TUESDAY (7/08) during working hours of 7:00 AM to approximately 5:00 PM. No work on Friday, July 04th.
All traffic from Depot Street (Cottage/Pleasant to Railroad) and Martin (Depot to Maple) will not have access to Main Street while Depot is closed (Cottage/Pleasant to Martin) for pipe installation. Use Railroad & Franklin to/from Main Street.
Construction work schedules and traffic advisories will be issued daily during construction work in the Cottage/Pleasant to Martin Street areas.

SUNDAY NIGHT (6/29) MAIN/DEPOT INTERSECTION EMERGENCY WATER SHUTDOWN NOTICE
THIS SUNDAY NIGHT, NEW VALVES WILL BE INSTALLED ON THE MAIN STREET WATER MAIN AT THE MAIN/DEPOT STREET INTERSECTION. EXISTING MAIN STREET VALVES AT MECHANIC AND PLEASANT STREETS WILL BE CLOSED IN ORDER TO ISOLATE THE DEPOT/MAIN STREET INTERSECTION WORK AREA. WATER SERVICE SHUTDOWN WILL AFFECT ONLY (1) MAIN STREET (FROM MECHANIC TO PLEASANT STREETS) AND (2) ALL OF PLEASANT STREET.
IN THE HIGHLY UNLIKELY EVENT THAT THE MAIN STREET VALVE ON THE LIBRARY SIDE OF MECHANIC STREET DOES NOT FULLY CLOSE, THE NEXT MAIN STREET IN-LINE VALVE AT COTTAGE STREET WILL BE CLOSED. THIS IS NOT PLANNED, HOWEVER, THIS EMERGENCY VALVE CLOSURE WILL SHUT OFF WATER TO A MUCH LARGER AREA OF DOUGLAS, WHERE WATER SERVICE TO ALL CUSTOMERS EAST AND NORTH OF MECHANIC/MAIN STREET INTERSECTION WILL BE AFFECTED (FROM MECHANIC STREET EAST TO THE UXBRIDGE TOWN LINE, PLUS BOTH SIDES OF MAIN STREET, EAST OF UNIBANK, INCLUDING THE SCHOOLS).

DEPOT STREET WATER MAIN PROJECT TRAFFIC UPDATE – 6/25/2025
The intersection at Main Street & Depot Street will be closed to all traffic on Sunday night, June 29th, from 7:00 PM to Monday morning 7:00 AM. Main Street will remain open with two-way traffic, however, with shifted and narrower lanes. Depot Street traffic will be routed one-way on Pleasant Street and two-way on Cottage Street.
Water service shutdowns will occur from Sunday night at 9:00 PM to Monday morning at 7:00 AM. Affected areas with no water on Main Street will be between Mechanic Street and Pleasant Street, in addition to, all of Pleasant Street, including the real estate/salon building at the corner of Pleasant and Main Streets.
Please be aware of all police details and directional signage. Caution and extreme vigilance through work zone areas is advised during all hours.

DEPOT STREET WATER PROJECT UPDATE - JUNE 17, 2025
Water contractor, C. Naughton, will be installing a new hydrant at the intersection of Depot Street/Martin Road, on this Thursday, June 19, 2025, from 9:00AM to 1:00PM.
WATER WILL BE SHUT OFF FOR ALL USERS ON MARTIN ROAD AND MAPLE STREET DURING HYDRANT INSTALLATION.
C. Naughton personnel will be hand delivering notices to all town water users on Martin Road and the houses off Maple that will be affected by the shutdown.
